It’s Time to File the Missing Person’s Report #
Throughout Scripture, God works in tandem through word and power. He speaks then acts, proclaims then produces. #
the power of the Kingdom #
The Spirit is an integral part of the Kingdom storyline #
- “Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant that they broke, though I was their husband, declares the Lord. (Jeremiah 31:31-32 ESV)
- And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules. (Ezekiel 36:26-27 ESV)
- “And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions. (Joel 2:28 ESV)
- “I baptize you with water for repentance, but he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. (Matthew 3:11 ESV)
- And I was with you in weakness and in fear and much trembling, and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. (1 Corinthians 2:3-5 ESV)
- Some are arrogant, as though I were not coming to you. But I will come to you soon, if the Lord wills, and I will find out not the talk of these arrogant people but their power. For the kingdom of God does not consist in talk but in power. What do you wish? Shall I come to you with a rod, or with love in a spirit of gentleness? (1 Corinthians 4:18-21 ESV)
Supernatural power has always been the means of Kingdom work.
Why do we see such little power? What is blocking it?
- sin and disobedience
- unbelief
- And he did not do many mighty works there, because of their unbelief. (Matthew 13:58 ESV)
- And when he saw their faith, he said, “Man, your sins are forgiven you.” (Luke 5:20 ESV)
- And he said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.” (Luke 7:50 ESV)
- And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace.” (Luke 8:48 ESV)
- And he said to him, “Rise and go your way; your faith has made you well.” (Luke 17:19 ESV)
- And Jesus said to him, “Recover your sight; your faith has made you well.” (Luke 18:42 ESV)
- Then he touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith be it done to you.” (Matthew 9:29 ESV)
faith activated the power of God and releases the possibilities #
If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” (Luke 11:13 ESV)
“I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. (John 16:12 ESV)
