In the near future, a stubborn farmer struggles to raise his crops in a modern “dust bowl,” brought on by a swarm of mutant insects bred as a “green” alternative to livestock farming.
In the near future, a stubborn farmer who has managed to eke out a living for himself and his son in isolation as a “dust bowl,” farmer when the rest of the world lives in cramped cities on synthesized food, must leave everything behind when his son runs away with a mysterious stranger.
A man and his son. They are living in the dust bowl, an area believed to be empty by the populace at large. They meticulously hide their presence to keep people out. They have their own well water, they enrich their own soil, they use gasifiers to power their equipment. They have a full-cover for their fields, and trackers for satellite activity. They have a great setup that works for them,…except
They are alone. The son sees it as they are dying. The father sees it as they are surviving. When. The well begins to go dry, the son leaves against his father’s wishes for the civilization. People show up there, and the son leaves with the daughter.
The father has to decide whether to lose everything he has (because it has to be worked everyday, and it has to be protected, or it will end.) And go after his son, or stay.
He decides to go.
